Short Bio
Kathryn Owen is the principal of Kathryn Owen Consulting LLC, an education research and evaluation consulting firm. She founded the Audience Research department at Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, Washington and now conducts research and evaluation for a range of museums, zoos/aquariums, government agencies and philanthropies, with a focus on environmental education and sustainable behavior change. She co-founded the Audience Research track within the University of Washington’s Museology Graduate program and served as program instructor/advisor for over a decade. With an MEd in adult learning, she trains and coaches diverse audiences in evaluation skills and methods. Professional memberships include the American Evaluation Association, Visitor Studies Association and Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) where she serves on the Social Science Research and Evaluation Advisory Group.
